Transformers Teaser Trailer Coming Soon

Transformerteaser_posterIt’s really coming (8 days to go) and all I can say is: I want!!! Grabe, I grew up with Transformers and still love them. At first, I was confused when I visited the movie website and actually thought the movie was to be released 04 July 2006 -- seven days to go. Then I realized the countdown was referring to the release of the teaser trailer and that the release date for the movie is still pegged at the 4th of July, 2007. Directed by Michael Bay (which has garnered negative as well as positive pogi [brownie] points), the movie stillTransformers_decepticon_insignia_1600x12_1 manages to be promising -- at least for me. You can get the low-down and the skinny here, plus these links provide more info: transformerland, seibertron. And here's an alleged description of the upcoming teaser (I can't confirm its authenticity, you judge).

Womb environment 'makes men gay'

BBC News: "A man's sexual orientation may be determined by conditions in the womb, according to a study." Though not conclusive, the study may lead to a better understanding of the oft neglected and at times persecuted members of the the "third gender." Subject of course to the condition that open minds will deal with the data collated.

Golden Gate Bridge Suicides Docu Stirs Controversy

diggnation reports: "For an entire year the cameras rolled, capturing death amid the eerie fog and shifting tides. One by one, filmmaker Eric Steel documented the final moments of nearly two dozen despondent men and women, and the agonizing, four-second fall after they leaped off the Golden Gate Bridge...."

It's difficult to draw the line where suicide is concerned. Emotions, understandably, causes invectives to be hurled instead of clear discussions of issues involved. This topic has always been divisive -- recently rendered manifest by the Terri Schiavo experience -- polarizing a nation, and the rest of the world into camps that are perhaps as "confused" as any person contemplating taking one's life. Thus, accusations like "snuff film" and "unethical" are being thrown around without pause for thought. I am almost sure this documentary film will not be shown here in our country (Philippines).

101 Versions of "Stairway to Heaven"

diggnation reports: "Over one hundred covers of the Led Zeppelin classic song, "Stairway to Heaven". Includes versions by The Doors, Frank Zappa, Dolly Parton, Heart, Redd Kross, Pat Boone, the Gregorian Masters of Chant and the London Symphony Orchestra."

Some are just snippets (like that audition tape for Iron Maiden), some so-so, but there are several nuggets there also. It's just amazing how many reditions this song could generate. I guess nobody followed the sign in Wayne's World saying: No playing of Stairway to Heaven. Meself is one of 'em guilty blokes, this was one of the first few (very few that is) songs I tried to learn on the guitar. Tried there being the operative word. Got the intro part pretty much worked out and ... that's about as far as I got. Which is just as well considering the many versions that apparently have sprung about.
